Moçambique recebe mais de 320 mil doses de vacinas da Noruega e Bélgica
Mozambique received yesterday around 330,000 doses of vaccines against the new coronavirus donated by the governments of Norway and Belgium, within the scope of the Covax international mechanism to support vaccination, the entities announced in a joint statement.
According to the statement, 179,800 doses of vaccines were donated by the Norwegian government and 149,760 by Belgium, totaling 329,560 dose
According to the document, the donation "complements the 1,318,560 doses of vaccine already obtained by the Mozambican Government", with the support of "various partners, within the scope of the Covax initiative".
According to the latest data from the Ministry of Health, around two million people have been vaccinated in Mozambique, almost 12% of the 17 million people the Government intends to reach by the end of 2022.
The third phase of vaccination against Covid-19 started today in the country, and it is expected to reach about seven million people by March 2022, including pregnant and lactating women with at least 18 years and three weeks of gestation, according to the Health authorities.
The vaccination process against the new coronavirus in Mozambique began in March, covering priority groups, including health professionals and police officers, followed in August by mass vaccination.
